SFX PROSTHETICS

Phantom of the Opera required two masks for the show, the iconic 'Phantom' mask was created to sit just off Craig’s face to protect the underlining makeup. The mask was worn using a wire loop over the head to enable it to be ripped off during different scenes. The mask was molded from a very lightweight plastic for comfort. The 'Red Death' mask for the masquerade ball is only seen once and has to make an impact. It also needed to articulate and move with Craig’s singing. So it was constructed in two parts with a hinged jaw. It was constructed of a fiberglass outer over a thin plaster base.

Oliver’s Fagin required an exaggerated character look. With a huge hooked nose complete with a wart, Molded in silicone for a seamless blend and match to Craigs face and complexion, it was accompanied by wild bushy eyebrows and a beard extension built on silicon strips so they could be taken off and re-used for each performance.
